When I saw the wonderful layers of knits and tweeds and tartans that Karl Lagerfeld melded together so exquisitely for his latest Métiers d’Art collection for Chanel I was reminded of the extraordinary work of Bill Gibb and Kaffe Fassett. Lagerfeld even unveiled the collection in Scotland, the birthplace of Mr Gibb. His inspiration lives on methinks…
