In 1977 this oversized khaki cotton shirtdress by JAP, the label designed by Kenzo Takada, caused a storm of protest in the local Bath press when it was chosen as the Fashion Museum’s Dress of the Year by Ann Boyd, fashion editor of the Observer. This was the second year running that Kenzo had received this award – the previous year two of his multi-coloured cotton print ethnic ensembles had also been selected.
