IN THIS AGE OF GRAND ILLUSION PT. 1

When CSM/GREY GOOSE invited alumni to take part in Les Visionnaires Scholarship Fund project they sent each a wooden presentation box that contained the GREY GOOSE vodka bottle (plain frosted glass excepting the familiar clear goose logo), a sheet of drawing paper and a small square sketchbook measuring roughly 14cm x 14cm). As part of the design process I collaged my thoughts together in the little book in a stream of consciousness / word association kind of way. This involved various mediums including found images, fabrics and objects, along with original sketches and cut ups. The captions throughout were typed on trace paper (to mimic the frosted glass) using my trusty Olivetti Lettera 35L manual typewriter. I covered the book in grey sweat-shirting (a particular favourite of mine) and silver grey Gaffer tape. This sketchbook was framed and auctioned along with the other artworks I produced, so previous to the sale I requested each spread be scanned. This was not only so I might keep a record of the project but also because there are still many ideas within the pages that I feel are yet to be properly explored.

So, here is Part 1 of the sketchbook, which might give you some small clue as to how my mind works…
